How it works
Everything the extension does, in the order you will meet it. For streams you have the right to record.
Install
When it is released, add Link Lite from the Chrome Web Store. It works in Chrome, Edge and Brave. There is no account. The first recordings work in full.
Open the panel on a stream page
Go to a Kick or Twitch channel that is live and press the Link button in the browser’s toolbar, or Alt+Shift+K. The panel opens on the page as a small dark capsule, showing the site and the channel’s name. Drag its dotted top edge to move it. More widens it and shows the choices and your recordings.
Record and stop
Press Record. The REC dot blinks and the timer runs. Only the stream’s picture is recorded: the page around it, the player’s buttons and the mouse pointer are left out. Press Stop, or let it reach the 30-minute limit, and the file is saved.
Mark a highlight and add a note
Press Alt+Shift+M or the Mark button when something happens, and type a few words if you want (“clutch 1v3”). Link also marks by itself when chat suddenly speeds up.
The rewind
Switch the rewind on and Link keeps the last 3 minutes while you watch. Save the last minute (or 30 seconds, 2 or 3 minutes) makes a file of what you just saw. Record from here starts a recording that begins that far back. It uses some of the computer’s power for as long as it is on.
Where the file goes and how it is named
One mp4 goes into a folder named Link in your Downloads folder, named after the channel, the date and the time: “yourchannel 2026-10-08 15-07-12.mp4”. The marks, their notes and the stream’s title travel inside the file. Nothing is uploaded.
The marks list and Copy list
Under Recordings in the panel, a recording with marks has a star button. It opens the marks, each with its time and note. Copy list puts them on your clipboard as text, for any editing program.
Importing markers into DaVinci Resolve
Markers for Resolve saves a marker file beside the video. In Resolve, put the recording at the start of a timeline, right-click that timeline in the media pool and choose Timelines, Import, Timeline Markers from EDL. The marks appear on the timeline; the ones chat made are yellow.
Theatre mode for a sharper picture
A recording is as sharp as the stream is big on the page. So when you press Record, Link switches the site to its theatre mode, says so for a few seconds, and switches back when the recording ends. This can be switched off.
Keyboard shortcuts
Alt+Shift+K opens or closes the panel. Alt+Shift+L starts recording, or stops and saves. Alt+Shift+M marks a highlight. Alt+Shift+J saves the last minute when the rewind is on. They can be changed on the browser’s extension shortcuts page.
The choices that can be switched off
Under Choices: record only the stream’s picture, keep the player’s buttons and the pointer out of it, marks made by chat’s speed, and theatre mode by itself. Each can be switched off. Chat is only counted: never who wrote, or what.
